Job summary

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a PMO Manager to join the North West Ambulance Service's established Programme Management Office (PMO), within the Centre of Excellence Team, on an 18 month contract.

This exciting new role is an ideal opportunity for someone with significant experience of working within a project environment. part in supporting the successful delivery of projects and programmes within the Trust Portfolio through provision of expert project management guidance, support, assurance and task and resource planning expertise. The role will support the continuous improvement of the Trust PMO in order to enhance project management standards and capability across the Trust, improving overall delivery confidence in, and reducing risk for, the design and delivery of interrelated change projects and programmes. The role also involves support for development of all aspects of the Trust's PMO's products and services but has a key focus on project delivery support and assurance, standards and capabilities.

Main duties of the job

You will have a working knowledge of project management including governance and assurance, change management and benefits realisation, with experience of policy formation and Programme Management Office procedures.

The role will also provide line management to identified Centre of Excellence team members setting objectives and allocating work, undertaking appraisals, managing attendance, dealing with employee related issues, ensuring they deliver their responsibilities effectively and efficiently, therefore you must have demonstrable experience of line management responsibilities and proven team leadership and motivational skills.

The role requires an enthusiastic and motivated individual who pays particular attention to detail. You will require the ability to develop and support the implementation of common project, programme and portfolio management standards and associated tools and documentation, including project information systems, governance, business cases, benefits-led delivery planning, risk management and project reporting.

The PMO department operates an ethos of best practice techniques, in line with industry standards. Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively collaborate with your colleagues are essential personal attributes.

About us

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.

Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.

Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
