The Human Resources Business Partnering Team is looking for an enthusiastic, self-motivated, and professional Human Resources Officer to provide professional and responsive advice and guidance to managers and staff to ensure the consistent application of HR policies and practices within the Trust.
Advising within the framework of NWAS policies and the legal context, on areas such as absence management, recruitment & selection, disciplinary, grievance, performance management and organisational change under the guidance of the HR Manager.
Whilst the HR Officer role will be a generalist HR role including involvement in all elements of the employee lifecycle, it will have particular focus on absence management case support and coaching for our front-line managers.
Main duties of the job
The role does not require HR CIPD qualification or previous experience of working in a generalist HR role (although this is preferable). In the absence of such, candidates will be considered, if they can instead demonstrate sufficient practical people management experience which had responsibility for case management in line with policies (sickness, performance, disciplinary etc).
The successful candidate will:
- Be a driven and proactive individual who can manage a caseload at sufficient pace
- Be able to quickly integrate and build relationships within a new team
- Have the confidence to challenge incorrect process and practices
- Have an ability to engage and coach managers at all levels
- Be capable and comfortable using various systems to record and manage caseload
Travel to various locations throughout the Northwest will need to be undertaken on a regular basis.

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.
Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.
Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.
We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
