Job summary
To work as a member of the maternity team, under the direction and supervision of the midwife. The maternity care assistant is accountable to the midwife and will be supervised by the midwife either directly or indirectly whilst on duty.o Promote a friendly, caring environment and actively work within the multidisciplinary team.o Promote the philosophy of respect, for varied cultural, physical and spiritual needs of mothers.o Act as a role model for practice, respecting both the privacy and dignity of mothers and theirfamilieso Prepare rooms and ensure the environment is welcomingo Assist mothers with baby care, including nappy changing, bathing and feeding.o Assist mother with her personal hygiene needs, including bathing and bed making.o Be able to recognise deviations from normal in the condition of both mother and baby and reportfindings to the midwife in charge.
Main duties of the job
The shift pattern will be working day and night shifts, Monday to Sunday including bank holidays
Ideally the applicant has experience within the NHS and hold a BTEC Level 3 or equivalent or be willing to work towards this.
You will work under the direct/indirect supervision of a registered midwife; when undertaking delegated nursing and non-nursing duties for women, and their families.
