Job summary
The Fellow will gain experience in various aspects of an agreed area of interest which will be supported by a consultant mentor.
The Royal Bolton Hospital Emergency Department continually seeks to develop and improve the service of emergency care to the local population. The Department has a strong educational background, with an established programme of undergraduate and postgraduate training as well as Consultant representation at local, regional and national level.
All Consultants have a variety of special interests that include Paediatric Emergency Medicine and Event Medicine.
This post will involve working weekends and out of hours.
Main duties of the job
You will work in a safe, effective, timely fashion as part of the ED middle grade rota, which will include nights and weekends.
You will provide departmental leadership and guidance for junior staff and work closely with operational management, senior nursing colleagues and the consultant body to embed departmental improvements.
There will be opportunity for the Fellow to lead quality improvement in the department in an area of their interest, such as:
- Creation of a frailty/geriatric area of ED
- "Silver" trauma
- Dementia friendly care
- End of life care
- Supported discharge
