This is a fantastic opportunity to join a dynamic, consultant led Specialist Palliative Care Team that prides itself in delivering high quality care, in the right place, every time. The post holder will be joining the service at a time of exciting change and development to improve the provision of Palliative and End of Life Care to the residents of Bolton.
We areseeking to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated, forward thinking Specialty Doctor to work within the Specialist Palliative Care team across the community and hospital setting - specific setting may flex with the needs of the service. The position will be a developmental role that allows the post holder to gain the skills, knowledge and competencies required to work as a Specialty Doctor in Specialist Palliative and End of Life Care.The service is part of the Community Services Division which provides a multitude of services within Bolton. Experience of working in the community setting is not essential as the successful candidate will receive a full supportive induction when they join the Division and the team.
The post holder will contribute to the provision of Specialist Palliative and End of Life Care to the people of Bolton with advanced, life shortening disease under the supervision of the Consultants in Palliative Medicine.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work with the Consultants in the hospital and community settings to provide and develop Specialist Palliative Care, ensuring continuity of care for patients.
They will work with the multi-professional team - contributing to the ongoing assessment. They will provide and monitor care in line with service pathways, as agreed with the
supervising clinician. They will assess and monitor the condition and the health needs of people patients within their care on a continual basis, in partnership with the multi-professional team.
They will act in accordance with the GMC Code of conduct and NHS terms and conditions of service will apply.

Royal Bolton Hospital currently has approximately 600 inpatient beds, serving the population of Bolton and neighbouring areas. It is one of the busiest hospitals in the NW for emergency admissions. It has a cancer unit, with close links to the Christie Hospital. It has an oncology unit providing clinics and chemotherapy, and an Acute Oncology service.
Bolton is distinctive in its variable nature with a wide range of cultures, deprivation and health. Bolton has wide variation in measures of deprivation across the Borough which overall are wider than the national average.
