Band 5 Biomedical Scientist/Healthcare Science Practitioner
Full time 37.5 hours per week. Permanent post.
Applications are invited for a band 5 HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists to join our professional team.
You will be expected to support the department in ensuring a high quality service that meets national standards and expectations towards UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service)
Applications for such a prominent and sought after post are expected to be high, so the service may close prior to the advertised closing date, depending on levels/numbers of applications.
Please note: interviews will be held in-person and will include delivering a short (approximately) 3 minute presentation. The topic for this will be provided to candidates 30 minutes prior to interview.
Main duties of the job
For the main duties of the role, please see the attached Job Description - these include:
- Following the POCT Policy, laboratory guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) and to maintain up to date knowledge of all Trust policies.
- Performing all technical procedures with a high level of skill and dexterity ensuring quality performance of POCT devices used in the clinical care of patients.
- Troubleshooting, assessing and rectifying POCT device or IT failure using established procedures and deciding on course of action to be taken and report any non-functioning device to the section manager or supplier as appropriate.
- Delivering training on POCT devices and liaising with all groups of healthcare professionals by phone, email and in-person to provide a safe and effective POCT service. This often requires tact and diplomacy.
- Understanding the role of POCT in NHS service provision. Utilising knowledge and skills to drive innovation - which provides better, more accessible care for patients.
