The Anaesthetics and Surgical division includes emergency and elective surgery including specialities general surgery, breast, ENT, urology, orthopaedics, and ophthalmology. This is inclusive of theatres including day-case and the Critical Care department. The division also provides clinical services departments such as out-patient departments. This makes for a vast and varied division of services with a common focus of providing safe and effective patient care.
Here at Bolton, Critical Care has amalgamated its intensive care and high dependency units and is currently a 18 bedded unit caring for both level 3 and level 2 patients. These patients have a variety of different needs.
We are looking to recruit motivated, hardworking nurses who have excellent communication skills & a passion for their role and improving patient care. When working clinically we expect you to perform with passion and drive, provide clinically excellent care, and be supportive to patients, relatives, and other MDT members.

Critical Care here at Bolton is a great place to work and as a qualified nurse you will be an important part of our Multidisciplinary Team.
As a registered nurse you will be expected to promote and lead the delivery of an excellent standard of patient centred care in a supported environment. We are keen to hear from nurses with experience in the acute or critical care setting but would also love to hear from nurses with a real passion for excellence in quality and patient-centred care.
We are fully supportive of the preceptorship programme and you will have a supernumerary period to support you in your induction, dependent on experience. To support your ongoing development, your learning and development will be aligned with national competency for critical care nurses. This will provide foundation to the commencement of a recognised transferrable critical care qualification. You will be guided and supported with many of our multidisciplinary team members including medical staff, outreach, physio, dietician etc. There will be encouragement to achieve extended clinical skills and achieve competency within these.
Both part time and full time hours are available.

We offer a comprehensive preceptorship package and have a band 5 development package. Staff are supported during each of their shifts by an excellent team of nurses and each shift is led by a band 7/6 team leader to further support staff and decision making within the unit. With the help of our supportive teams and the practice based educators we can facilitate a safe and comfortable transition for new and exciting learning and development. We have designated practice educator nurses for Critical Care who support new staff and ensure all staff are up to date with competencies and skills training.
