Consultant Urologist

The Urology Department at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a Consultant with an interest in paediatric urology to join our fantastic team based at the Royal Bolton Hospital.

We are a forward thinking department, which strives to provide a service that is continually improving for our patients and staff alike. You will be working alongside experienced consultant colleagues, who work very closely as a team in the truest sense of the word. Our Urology Theatre, Day Surgery Ward provision, and Diagnostic Suite are located together, in the new £4m Bolton Centre of Urology (which was designed with the needs of the Urology patient in mind); and this has created a very flexible working environment for the entire Urology team to facilitate the smooth running of both elective and emergency work.

Main duties of the job

You would be joining a high-performing Trust, which has been rated 'good' by the CQC in the last two inspections. Our Trust and department in particular has an excellent reputation in Urological Specialty Training. You will work with colleagues who are highly motivated, and someone who continually strives for excellence with the patient at the forefront of all you do. You will have the opportunity to develop any special interests and we would encourage you to do so.

The post is full time, however we would welcome discussions for a more flexible working pattern and/or part time options can also be considered should the successful candidate wish to do that. The Trust has an agreed shared 1:8 oncall rota with Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust with middle grade cover. We have 4 middle grade doctors (one of them is a Specialty trainee from North-West rotation), 1 Core-surgical trainee year 2, 1 Advanced Nurse Practitioner with Urological expertise, 3 Specialist benign Urology Nurses, 4 Uro-oncology Specialty Nurses.
