An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 5 Bladder and Bowel Clinical Nurse Specialist to join the Specialist Bladder and Bowel Team for 30 hours per week.
This is an excellent opportunity for a band 5 nurse who is passionate about caring for patients with bladder or bowel dysfunction, to consolidate and build on their existing knowledge and skills.
You will be joining an enthusiastic and forward thinking Specialist Bladder and Bowel team and as part of the Bladder and Bowel team you will undertake nurse-led clinics and domiciliary work. You must be able to work in a variety of settings both autonomously and also in a supervisory role. .
An ability to teach carers, clients and staff in Bladder and Bowel Management is essential and excellent communication skills are required.
On-going training and support is very much part of the team philosophy and informal discussions and visits are encouraged.
Main duties of the job
- To be professionally, legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your work, ensuring a high standard of clinical care for patients under your care.
- To work within the Adult Bladder & Bowel Service Specialist Team completing continence assessments including bladder scanning, physical assessments and urine testing as clinically indicated, providing clinical care of a high standard to patients, in clinics, in their own homes, and Care Homes.
- To formulate individualised management strategies working within the agreed service level agreement and formularies for the provision of containment products.
- To seek out clinical and professional advice and support from the Clinical Nurse Specialists within the team.
- To carry out all procedures/treatments within his/her personal competence and within constraints of the job description.
- To participate in the supervision and training of students from higher institutions and the shadowing of clinicians from other professional groups.
- To advise the clinical lead immediately of any untoward incidents.
- To deliver care in accordance with organisational policies, procedures and guidelines.

The Bladder and Bowel Health Service provides a specialist nursing assessment, treatment and management for adults experiencing bladder and bowel dysfunction.The service is provided for the residents of Bolton who are registeredwith a local GP practitioner.
We also provide professional advice, support and education to staff within Bolton NHS Foundation Trust and the wider health economy.
Clinics are based at Breightmet Health Centre. Home visits are untaken when necessary.
