Band 5, permanent post

37.5 hours per week 1.0 WTE over 7 days

We are currently looking to expand our Homecare Service and we are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Pharmacy Technician to support and further develop our dynamic Homecare Services team. This is a pivotal role that will lead the Homecare service, ensuring the highest standards of pharmaceutical care and support for our patients.

This post is a split post covering 50% Homecare duties and 50% Higher Level Pharmacy Technician roles.

Main duties of the job

  • Your time will be divided equally between Homecare and working as a Higher Level Pharmacy Technician
  • You will work in partnership with the Clinical Homecare Pharmacist and the Senior Homecare Technician in the provision of a high quality homecare service.
  • Supervise the team of Technicians and assistants involved in the delivery of the Pharmacy Homecare Service in the absence of the Senior Homecare Pharmacy Technician
  • Maintain and develop the highest standards of patient focused care in the provision of Homecare Services.
  • Co-ordinates the day to day operational aspects of the Homecare service. Prioritises and manages the workload to ensure problems are resolved.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards for homecare services in England (RPS) and the recommendations borne out of the homecare medicines 'towards a vision for the future 2011 report' (Hackett Report).
  • To assist patients with queries or issues they may have regarding the Homecare service they receive.
  • To update the Homecare database, ensuring patients are added in a timely manner

All duties will be carried out under the direction of the Chief Pharmacist.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • NVQ Level 3 with BTEC in Pharmacy Services with appropriate underpinning knowledge or equivalent
  • Registered with GPhC
  • Accredited Technician Checker minimum one year's experience

Desirable

  • Evidence of further education in clinical pharmacy practice
  • Good all round technical knowledge and basic clinical knowledge

EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Ability to work under own initiative and with supervision
  • Prior experience of work in a hospital pharmacy or community pharmacy
  • Able to meet deadlines whilst paying attention to detail
  • Satisfactory employment history
  • Ability to cope with occasional distressing circumstances e.g. when dealing with seriously ill patients

Desirable

  • Experience in Ward Based Pharmacy Services eg 'PoDs', 'One-stop' eMM and eDS
  • Experienced and confident in use of Ascribe IT system
  • Aseptic experience with evidence of regular broth tests /up to date with processes
