The Acute Adult Care Division is one of four Clinical Divisions in the Trust that includes Emergency Care, Complex Care and Specialist Medicine. The Division contains the busiest single site Emergency Department in Greater Manchester and has inpatient wards providing acute medicine, rehabilitation and specialist medicine services. An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Accident and Emergency nurse with an interest in Emergency medicine to train to work within our Emergency Department Minors area. We have an excellent team of health care professionals in this already established area. The Nurse Led Minors area is supported with Physiotherapy and the ED consultant team.
As an Emergency Nurse Practitioner/Band 6 Trainee, you would be welcomed as part of the team to provide highly skilled nursing assessment, diagnosis and management of patients presenting with both minor injury and illness. The successful candidate will be an experienced A&E nurse and have the opportunity to learn and develop skills and achieve academic competency in order to progress into an Emergency Nurse Practitioner role.

Taking and recording a systematic patient history Carrying out where appropriate, invasive and noninvasivediagnostic and therapeutic diagnostic procedures Making diagnostic decisions based on interpretations of clinical andother findings such as laboratory results and radiology Responsible and accountable for clinical decision making throughthe application of Emergency clinical assessment skills Devising an individual care plan. As a non-medical prescriber (desirable), or use of PGDs,prescribes safely, appropriately and cost effectively, based on soundknowledge of pharmacology Initiates prescribed treatment and medication Screening of patients for the early signs of clinical risk factors Responsible for both initiating and then terminating an episode ofcare by either or referring on to another agency or by autonomouslydischarging the patient Responsible for practicing independently. Responsible for using the multi-disciplinary team to ensure thatpatients receive appropriate services Act as a resource for other nursing staff for clinical advice Will demonstrate expert communication to all members of the multidisciplinary team Accountable for the direct delivery of clinical care to patients withinthe Emergency Care Unit setting Act as a role model, mentor, facilitator and educator Can undertake the role of Triage nurse when required.
