To maintain the quality and departmental governance systems that ensures standards set by the relevant regulatory bodies/agencies as well as the Trust Policies; are achieved in order that our services attain the highest possible quality standards, developing action plans as & when required. (Regulatory Bodies include; UKAS (UK Accreditation Service), HSE (Health & Safety Executive), HTA (Human Tissue Authority), RCPath (Royal College of Pathologists), ANNB (Antenatal New Born Screening Programme), etc.)
Main duties of the job
To ensure and be responsible for the maintenance of Laboratory Medicine's Quality Management System. To achieve this aim you will be responsible for quality and timeliness of audits, incidents, improvements, preventative and other measures that ensure quality is maintained.
Working closely with speciality managers, by leading performance management meetings, you will provide quality governance measures to the service managers to ensure compliance with KPI's and action plans where compliance is below targets.

Job responsibilities
- To fulfil the role of Quality Manager for Laboratory Medicine by assisting & supporting all the Laboratory Medicine Managers and Business Manager in association with the Divisional Management team to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and standards
- In close consultation with the Laboratory Medicine Service Manager, Operational Business Manager, Speciality Managers support the development of policies, quality manuals, protocols and documentation for all procedures involved in the provision of the laboratory service in order to provide a safe and effective quality management system.
- Support the retention of accreditation for Laboratory Medicine specialities with appropriate national and international regulatory bodies, by ensuring relevant standards are achieved and adhered to.
- Responsible for supervising and co-ordinate a regular monitoring and auditing of all aspects of the service.
- Provide written reports of all audits to the senior management team and help to devise appropriate action plans.
