Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside the Bolton Community Learning Disability Team, an integrated team of health and social care professionals who deliver assessments and interventions for adults with a learning disability. The main responsibility of the role is to deliver and project manage specific work streams to improve the provision of service for the service user group. This post involves working in partnership with colleagues within the Learning Disability Team, IST Function, Transition team and Commissioning team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered with successful outcomes, on time and within budget. The post holder will support the department to deliver elements of contract & project management to a wide range of Council Standard Contracts and projects

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will have experience of working as a project manager for a large organisation, managing multiple, complex projects. The post holder will need to demonstrate an ability to work under pressure with a proven record of using complex, integrated systems. We are seeking a project manager who has extension knowledge of integrated services and experience of Local Authority commissioning including negotiations with providers in relation to contracting, performance or quality issues. The post holder will have excellent communication skills and previous experience of working within learning disability services. The role requires the ability to understand and analyse complex data and the skills required to deliver information to large groups of people, adjusting information as required to meet the needs of the recipient. The post holder will be educated to degree level or above and have previous experience of involvement in research projects.

Job responsibilities

Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing the implementation of specific projects within the teams.
  • Working closely with the Commissioning Team to ensure shared objectives and delivery of joint projects.
  • Ensure correct ownership of processes and systems to ensure full embedding within operational and corporate structure, as appropriate, with maximised use.
  • Ensure effective communication and engagement within the teams and with all stakeholders.
  • Preparing documents and assisting with the development of project proposals and the approval and prioritisation processes.
  • Ensure that project objectives and scope are clearly documented and agreed prior to project start.
  • Regularly report on progress, monitoring progress against plan, delivery of the project purpose, and post project review including updating the lessons learned and decision logs.
  • Preparation and maintenance of all project documentation, including (but not limited to): scoping, PID; options appraisal; risk, issues, decisions, lessons and actions logs; high level and detailed project plans; highlight reports; Project Board papers.
  • Ensure all documents and reports are prepared and delivered as specified in the project communications plan and in line with agreed reporting schedules.
  • Set up and lead Project Team meetings, involving stakeholders, suppliers and team members. Responsible for controlling, directing, planning and allocating work and motivating service users to get directly or indirectly involved with the project and its development.
  • Co-ordinate the activity of project team members and contributors ensuring that tasks and work packages are completed satisfactorily and on schedule.
