Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust

Paediatric Surgical / Outpatients Staff Nurse

The closing date is 19 April 2026

Job summary

Are you a paediatric nurse looking for an exciting new opportunity? This could be the role for you! We are recruiting a paediatric nurse to support our paediatric outpatient clinics at Oldham and Rochdale, as well as our elective paediatric surgical lists within our 'Walk-in Walk-out' day-case theatre.

As part of our outpatient and 'Walk-in Walk-out' nursing team, you will deliver high-quality, effective, and patient-focused care to the children and families who access our services. This role involves Monday-Friday working, covering both paediatric outpatient and day-case surgery shifts, giving you the opportunity to develop and utilise skills across a variety of clinical settings.

This is an excellent opportunity to broaden your outpatient and surgical experience. You will be fully supported by the Ambulatory Care Manager and Paediatric Practice Educators, with a bespoke four-week induction programme to ease your transition into the role. You will also have access to dedicated paediatric training days and an individual development plan to help you build on your existing knowledge, skills, and experience.

Main duties of the job

As a Paediatric Outpatient/Surgical Nurse, you will play a vital role in delivering child- and family-focused pre- and post-operative care, ensuring continuity throughout the patient journey. You will also have the opportunity to contribute to the development and progression of quality improvement initiatives across paediatric outpatient services and paediatric surgery within the Organisation.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic paediatric nurse with a breadth of clinical skills and experience who is passionate about providing high-quality care.

We are a warm, supportive team who embrace the Organisation's Kindness Collaborative, which underpins how we work together and care for our patients. We are proud to have our own bespoke 'Walk-In Walk-Out' day-case area, located within the theatre suite at the Royal Oldham. This innovative model enhances the patient experience by ensuring consistent, seamless care, with the same nursing team supporting children and families through both pre- and post-operative stages.

We are also fortunate to have a dedicated team of Play Specialists working across our services. They provide therapeutic play interventions for all patients, along with access to an adolescent room and playroom--quiet, supportive spaces where children and young people can step away from the clinical environment.
