Rehab Support Worker

Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Rehab Support Worker to join our neuro rehab team at the Floyd unit. The role will require you to support the therapy team (Physio, SLT and Occupational Therapists) in the provision of neuro rehab. This involves supporting patients to achieve their goals through rehab activity in 1:1 sessions, groups, and education. Your role is vital in the promotion of a 24-hour rehab approach.

The post holder will support the provision of activities and groups which support increased access to rehab, alongside the therapy team, other rehab support workers and our unit activity coordinator.

This is an excellent opportunity where you will have access to training, supervision, support and development of assessment and rehabilitation skills. There will be opportunity to support and participate in quality improvement projects relevant to the development of the Neuro Rehab service.

Main duties of the job

To assist the delivery of high quality, evidenced based neuro rehab to the caseload of the Floyd unit.

To assist the delivery of high quality, evidenced based neuro rehab to the caseload of the Floyd unit in supporting individualised programs set by the therapy team (Speech and Language Therapist, OT, and Physio)

To support patients to progress with rehab goals through; supported education, 1:1 session, groups (therapeutic and diversional) and community outreach activities supporting discharge planning.

To promote a 24-hour rehab approach on the unit through joint working with the MDT and a supportive rehab environment.

Knowledge, Training and Experience

  • Understanding of skills needed to work with clients with a variety of physical, cognitive and communication impairment
  • Well- developed communication skills with experience of communicating with patients / clients with barriers to communication
  • Good understanding of the role

  • NHS experience
  • Previous employment working in a health care setting
