We are recruiting a Registered Band 5 Staff Nurse to join our supportive and dynamic team.

Main duties of the job

Our Acute Medical Unit currently has 40 inpatient beds, soon expanding to 50. All patients are triaged on arrival and cared for in the most appropriate setting. Working within Acute Medicine offers excellent opportunities for professional growth and development, with exposure to a wide variety of patients and specialties including Cardiovascular, Gastroenterology, Respiratory care, and more.

The unit is supported by a highly experienced team of physicians who work closely with nursing staff.

Many nurses who have developed their skills on this unit have progressed into roles such as Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Specialist Nurses, and higher band positions.

Main duties:

  • Act as the team leader for a designated group of patients
  • Participate in the supervision of junior nurses and unregistered staff
  • Report all accidents and untoward incidents, ensuring relevant documentation is completed
  • Undertake delegated responsibilities from the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse
  • Develop an awareness of cost implications and exercise economy when using or ordering medical supplies
  • Participate in the investigation of complaints and incidents
  • Promote the safety, well-being and interests of patients, staff and visitors on the unit
  • Take part in the appraisal process
