Job summary

The Northern Care Alliance are delighted to offer this opportunity to join us and support the Infection Prevention and Control team.

The post holder will be a registered nurse with some leadership skills and significant experience as an Infection Prevention and Control Nurse (IPC). They will be able to demonstrate service improvement projects and an in-depth knowledge of associated working partnerships/services that have a direct impact on IPC.

The post holder will act as a deputy to the Lead Nurse when required, and as senior support to IPC staff across the care organisations as required. The post holder will be required to be flexible in terms of the site-specific base (OCO, SCO, BCO RCO and Community) dependant on the needs of the service which may at times require cross site working/covering the service as deemed necessary to maintain a safe and optimal IPC service across the NCA.

The post holder will be expected to join the established on-call rota.

The post holder will be expected to , create workable solutions and providing expert professional infection control advice, and demonstrate leadership. They will provide managerial and professional leadership for the junior team members, ensuring they support the delivery of a high-quality proactive IPC service in accordance with the Care Quality Commission, Health Care Act and the Code of Practice.

Main duties of the job

Develop and maintain communications across the Care Organisations with people on complex matters, issues and ideas and/or in complex situations- deputising for and supporting the CO Lead Nurse as required. Provide leadership for junior staff role model as a senior nurse within the NCA. Ensure timely and accurate surveillance data is presented and used to identify areas for targeted resources. Develop oneself and others in areas of practice. Facilitate an environment and culture that improves health, safety and well -being. Work in partnership with others to develop, take forward and evaluate direction, policies and strategies. Support a culture that focuses on respect, continuous improvement in oneself, colleagues and in the quality of care and services in ensuring safe infection control practices. Promote equality and value diversity. Support and identify areas for financial improvement within infection control plan, coordinate and monitor the delivery of services and / or other projects as required by the CO Lead Nurse. Assist in planning, development, monitoring and review of the recruitment, deployment and management of people. Facilitate the development of capacity and capability. Provide accurate and timely reporting and surveillance of infection.
