Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the interventional radiology nursing team where you will be able to provide the highest quality nursing care to all patients and their relatives while they are in the Radiology Department by using clinical experience and enhanced skills.
Candidates should be highly motivated, forward thinking, enthusiastic and flexible. They should demonstrate excellent communication skills and work well as part of a team with a commitment to providing a quality service to our patients and an inclusive, open, and supportive work environment for our staff.
The successful candidate will rotate between all areas of the Radiology Department where you will be responsible for the implementation and smooth running of the clinical sessions. You will scrub/monitor and assist the radiologist and clinical specialist radiographers during interventional procedures. You will assist in the running of the Salford Radiology Day Case Unit, admitting patients, providing post procedure care and safe nurse-led discharge.
The successful candidate would be expected to participate in the 24/7 out of hours, non-residential on call service and must be prepared to work flexible shifts.
Main duties of the job
- Working within the day case unit as well as Interventional Room
- Admission and discharge of Day case patients.
- Monitoring physiological observations and supporting patients during procedures.
- Administering Intravenous conscious sedation and pain relief during procedures where required.
- Emotionally supporting patients and their families during their journey through Interventional Radiology.
- Recovery care for patients post procedure within Interventional radiology protocols.
- Infection control
- Liaising with wards and working with other Allied Health Professionals.
- Surgical Scrub nurse support during procedures.
- Comply with all radiology SOPs and Policies.
