Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the therapy team at Tudor Court as a therapy assistant. Therapy is provided to any resident in Rochdale, Heywood and Middleton who requires a period of rehabilitation.
Unfortunately, this role does not meet the criteria required to qualify for sponsorship.
Main duties of the job
- To provide assessments and interventions, for delegated caseload of patients; with support and supervision of a qualified therapist.
- To undertake administrative and stock control duties as requested to support the therapy services.
- Attend and effectively contribute to regular meetings, including:
- Monthly speciality team meetings
- Monthly staff meetings
- Peer support meetings
- Ward handover meetings
- Champions update meeting
- Promote a positive and efficient image of the service within own and wider team
- Provide effective advice, information and support for patients and carers
- Ensure staff, patients and carers are aware of the role of therapy within own speciality area
- Overcome barriers to communication by altering style and format
- Involve patients in decision making with regards assessments and always gain informed consent
- Have a sound knowledge of specialist standardised and non-standardised assessments used within the service
- Undertake simple assessments as delegated by qualified therapist
- Demonstrate a good knowledge of medical conditions in own speciality area and how they affect day to day function
- Ensures joint treatment planning considers individual patient choice/wishes/beliefs
- Ensures assessments undertaken are holistic and meet standards
- Provide effective feedback of assessment findings to patient and carer
- Provide effective feedback of assessment findings to qualified therapists and wider MDT team
