Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated doctor who wishes to acquire experience in Cardiology with the intention of pursuing a career in Cardiology.
Salford Royal Hospital of the Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust (NCA) provides a comprehensive DGH cardiology service with our consultants having subspecialty interest in intervention, devices, imaging and heart failure. There is an on-site nuclear myocardial imaging service and the trust is supported by a full range of non-cardiology medical and surgical services.
The post duration is initially for 12 months.
Main duties of the job
Core components of the post will include 3 cardiology outpatient clinics per week, care of cardiology in-patients on Heart Care Unit (10 beds) and HCU Stepdown 9 beds), assessment of cardiology patients on non-cardiology wards, cardiology in-reach to EAU, teaching and audit. There will be opportunity to train in transthoracic echocardiography and cardiac catheterisation/PCI. Training in transoesophageal echocardiography and permanent pacing could be offered depending on experience.
We have an excellent record in placing trainees in specialist cardiology ST training posts. You will would work with 8 consultants: Dr N Abidin, Dr A Anwar, Dr A Fitchet, Dr G Freeman, Dr L Tin, Dr J MacDonald, Dr N Hussain and Dr P Woolfson, and a supporting team of junior and middle-grades and cardiology Advanced Practitioners in the Cardiology Department at Salford Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
