As the Specialist Midwife for Bereavement, you will utilise your professional leadership skills and expert clinical knowledge to work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team (MDT) in delivering and enhancing a compassionate and high-quality bereavement care pathway. Key responsibilities will include reviewing existing clinical care pathways and actively engaging in governance processes related to bereavement, including important initiatives such as the Perinatal Mortality Review Tool (PMRT) and the MBRRACE-UK (Mothers and Babies: Reducing Risk through Audits and Confidential Enquiries across the UK).
This is a unique opportunity for a midwife with a passion for supporting families during their most challenging times, contributing to the development and implementation of best practices in bereavement care. If you have the expertise and compassion required for this pivotal role, we encourage you to apply and be part of a team dedicated to making a meaningful difference in the lives of those navigating loss.
Main duties of the job
The Specialist Midwife for Bereavement role is dynamic and offers numerous opportunities for personal and professional development. For a comprehensive overview, please refer to the job description.
In this position, you will provide expert support and facilitate staff members in delivering essential information, education, and practical advice to women and birthing individuals facing difficult decisions regarding fetal abnormalities. The successful candidate will excel in offering personalised and compassionate care to families, while also contributing to the development of pathways and guidelines related to stillbirth, late miscarriage, medical terminations, and neonatal death.
Additionally, as the Bereavement Specialist Midwife, you will be responsible for the coordination and implementation of the national standardised Perinatal Mortality Review Tool (PMRT) and will ensure adherence to the core principles of the National Bereavement Care Pathway.
