Job summary
We are seeking an additional Health Care Assistant with an interest in nutrition and caring for long term patients to join our specialist service at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust supporting patients with a complex and rare condition known as intestinal failure, of which you will be supplied with full training in relation to the speciality.
The intestinal failure unit (IFU) is a nationally designated specialist service which receives complex surgical patients from all over the UK. Being one of two National Reference Centers (NRC) in the whole of the country, the IFU at Salford has developed a strong reputation for being an international center of excellence for medical and surgical care.
The role would suit somebody with experience in caring for patients with stoma's and who understands the complex nature when managing patients with complex long-term conditions.
Main duties of the job
You will work as part of the nursing team delivering care for adults with complex Intestinal Failure (IF).
The role is instrumental in supporting patients with IF during their transition from inpatient to patient care in the community and this will involve direct contact with inpatients, carers, and other health care professions (HCP's).
You will be an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team, will have emotional resilience, provide excellent care delivery.
Full training will be provided for all cares appropriate to HCA within the field of Intestinal Failure. This will include performing of clinical observations, weighing patients, meal delivery, managing complex stoma care and providing full holistic care to all patients within the hospital setting.
