Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity for a registered nursing associate to join our paediatric nursing team. Here at Oldham we supported the introduction of the nursing associate role and recognise the value of nursing associates as part of our wider nursing team.

We are currently recruiting to expand our nursing associate workforce and the successful candidates will be supported in their induction and professional development by our dedicated practice education team and our experienced nursing associate team members.

Here at Oldham we provide general paediatric, paediatric surgery, paediatric high dependency and children's observation and assessment nursing opportunities. We have a light, bright bespoke unit and a friendly and welcoming team.

Main duties of the job

The role of the Nursing Associate is to work with the multi professional team contributing to the ongoing assessment, providing and monitoring care in line with the service pathways and as agreed with supervising clinician(s). They will monitor the condition and health needs of people within their care on a continual basis in partnership with the multi-professional team.

The Nursing Associate has a breadth of knowledge across the lifespan, providing holistic and person-centred care and support for people of all ages and in a variety of settings. The Nursing Associate will work independently with the support of the clinical staff members, working within the sphere of nursing and care and within all aspects of the nursing process.

We are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic Nursing Associates to join our ever-growing team within Paediatrics. Here at Oldham, we pride ourselves on our warm and friendly welcome to our experienced paediatric team. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills across our range of services which include Paediatric inpatients, Paediatric Surgery, Paediatric High Dependency, Children's Observation and Assessment Unit and Children's Outpatient Services. Essential

  • Current UK Paediatric Nursing Associate Registration
  • Foundation Degree or above
  • GCSEs Grade C or above in Maths and English Language / New GCSE Grade 4-9 in Maths and English Language OR Functional Skills Level 2 in Maths and English or Equivalent

Knowledge, Skills, Training and Experience

Essential

  • Significant Experience in the field of Paediatrics
  • Understanding of the scope of the role of the Nursing Associate in context of the nursing and interdisciplinary team and the organisation, and how the role may contribute to service development
  • Communicates succinctly, clearly and accurately both verbally and in writing
  • Be an effective team member who is able to relate to colleagues at all levels of the Trust with tact and diplomacy
  • Understands and acts in line with NMC professional standards for practice contained within The Code.
  • Knowledge of current paediatric practices

Desirable

  • Experience of the use of clinical systems
  • Demonstrate initiative to proactively problem solve with a solution focus
  • Ability to use reflective practice, to continuously improve the standard of patient care
