We are seeking a highly motivated Health Care Assistant with enthusiasm to develop knowledge and experience looking after patients from multiple specialities.
BTU is a specialist fast paced day case, nurse-lead infusion and investigation Unit, looking after a large group of specialist helping manage chronic conditions. It cares for patients' conditions from multi-specialities i.e, neurology, gastroenterology, etc and provides specialist clinics with Specialist nurses clinics.
You will be supported within the role with the training required.
Brooke Treatment Unit is a fast paced working environment which gives staff the opportunity to use multiple transferable skills to provide the highest level of care to our patients. Working on Brooke Treatment Unit will give you lots of new experiences as we take patients from multiple specialities.
The post will offer lots of additional training and personal and professional support will be provided throughout. If you have a interest and experience in Neurology then this exciting new opportunity to work on our friendly and dynamic unit is for you!
Main duties of the job
OUR COMMITMENT TO YOU
You will support the nursing staff and provide excellent patient care whilst maintaining the trust values at every opportunity. Some of your duties will include
- Supporting patients with their activities of daily living
- Assist and support with personal hygiene needs whilst promoting independence
- Support preparing and escorting patients having tests done
- Timely clinical interventions: venepuncture, cannulation, ECG, collecting blood products, gathering equipment for nursing interventions, physiological observations
- Prepare and transfer patients and organise transport out of hours
- Prepare clinical area for new patients and support admissions
- Support bed moves within the clinical area.
- Educate new staff on ward processes
- Actively support mandatory training; undertaking train the trainer
- Support the ward with maintaining patient safety during treatment and post infusion observation times
- Support individualised patient care; reviewing quality
