Job summary
The Haematology and Blood Transfusion Department is seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join their team as a Biomedical Support Worker.
You will have keyboard skills, an awareness of computers and an interest in the field of pathology or science/biology together with a good general education. Previous laboratory experience would be desirable but not essential. You will have a commitment to undertake further training.
The post will be based at Salford Royal Hospital .

Main duties of the job
You will be performing general laboratory and clerical duties including entering data onto the laboratory computer system, preparation of blood samples for analysis, together with other simple routine manual and automated tests and general housekeeping duties. In line with the department's requirements to ensure the Trust complies with national requirements for transfusion safety and quality, the successful individual will also be designated for blood stock management and traceability duties. In-house training will be given.
