Job summary

Here at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust we have an exciting opportunity for a part time position in the cardiac device service. We are a joint service that offers cardiac, respiratory and sleep investigations working from Salford Royal, 5 diagnostic spokes and 1 community diagnostic hub.The successful candidate will have Heart Rhythm Society accreditation for the band 7 position.Our mission is to improve the health/quality of life for our patients by building an organisation that develops and invests in the individuals that work here and this can only be achieved with the recruitment of the right people.Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust is a leading University Hospital and is committed to developing the future work force for Cardiac Physiologist/Healthcare Scientists.

Main duties of the job

Advanced Cardiac Physiologist is required to work without supervision as a competent practitioner performing a range of specialised investigations. Duties will include; pacemaker/ILR implantation, device follow ups and a range of routine investigations. The post holder will support the Pacemaker Service Lead, assisting with the administration of the service and deputising when necessary. Teaching and supervision of junior staff will be required at this level.

Heart Rhythm Society Accreditation for the band 7 position

  • Advanced knowledge/skills in Cardiology for direct and high-quality care.
  • Assist during pacemaker implantation, performing comprehensive tests and assisting doctors in the appropriate pacemaker prescription and model from stock available.
  • Assist during ILR procedures.
  • Act as lead physiologist in pacemaker led follow up clinics using knowledge and skills to interpret results, reprogramming pacemakers as appropriate including complex devices.
  • To be trained and accredited under the auspices of the Resuscitation Council (UK) and to partake in providing Immediate Life Support (ILS) cardio-pulmonary resuscitation as and when necessary.
