The Pharmacy Team at Salford Royal seeks an experienced Band 8a Prescribing Pharmacist for our Surgical Admissions team. This full-time role (37.5 hours/week) involves leading pharmacy services in surgery, enhancing patient care, and optimising medication management. Participation in extended hours and on-call rotas required.

- Master's in pharmacy (or equivalent) with GPhC registration
- Independent prescribing qualification

Main duties of the job
As the Surgical Admissions Pharmacist, you will:
- Deliver a patient-focused clinical pharmacy service to the surgical division, promoting safe, effective, and cost-efficient drug use to enhance continuity of care across primary and secondary care interfaces.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including surgeons, anaesthetists, and nursing staff, to optimise patient outcomes. Participate in ward rounds and function as a clinical pharmacist in surgical areas as directed by the Lead Clinical Pharmacist.
- Develop and implement evidence-based guidelines and protocols for surgical pharmacotherapy.
- Use your independent prescribing qualification to optimise medication regimens, manage complex drug therapies, and support timely patient discharges.
- Mentor junior pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, fostering their professional development.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, clinical audits, and research projects within the surgical department. Record key performance indicators to monitor and improve service delivery.
- Manage drug expenditure and promote cost-effective prescribing practices.
