Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual with operational and leadership experience looking to take the next step in their career to join us as Haematology & Blood Transfusion Service Manager, at Salford Royal Hospital on a 6-month secondment. The post holder will be responsible for the leadership of the Haematology and Blood Transfusion laboratory service across PAWS (Pathology at Wigan and Salford).
The post holder will work with the senior leadership team across the Norther Care Alliance (NCA) and lead all aspects of the service including, the implementation of major projects such as the Managed Service Contract (MSC) and Single Laboratory Information Management System (sLIMS).
You shall be HCPC registered and have an IBMS accredited MSC or Fellow of the Institute of Biomedical Scientists and hold a certificate/diploma in management. Chartered scientist status is desirable but not essential, you should also be able to demonstrate ongoing CPD.
You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence others. The candidate should have a track record for implementing change, coupled with a desire to improve and succeed in this role. You will have the opportunity to influence future GM operating models as part of this role.
Main duties of the job
The main purpose of the job is to provide managerial and professional leadership for the Haematology and Blood Transfusion services across PAWS. Ensuring the delivery of a high quality, specialist clinical technical service in accordance with UKAS standards. The post holder will contribute to the strategic development of the Pathology Service in conjunction with the Divisional Managing Director of Pathology including planning and implementing changes to develop the service.
The post holder must ensure adherence to activity and budgetary targets and the efficient and effective management of all resources within the discipline ensuring the continuous development and delivery of a high quality, patient focused service. They will also be responsible for the ongoing monitoring and review of standards of service delivery, risk management and ensure safe practice in accordance with Clinical Governance.
The post requires a high level of specialist knowledge and a wide, in-depth knowledge of NHS procedures including finance, procurement, and personnel.
