Job summary

The post holder will work within the wider directorate of Urology. Working alongside an operational team of staff including Directorate Manager, Assistant Directorate Manager and workforce cordinator. The post holder will work closely with other members of the multi disciplinary team to ensure safe timely and effective service delivery.

This post will support the safe, timely and effective delivery of Urology services on the Oldham site.

To assist the directorate in the development and implementation of policy, business planning, business objectives and service developments.

Assist service leads in meeting performance management requirements of the services, including, RTT, Patient Flow, Sickness and absence, quality and activity targets.

To undertake specific project work as identified by the directorate team.

Ensuring medical staff adhere to Attendance policy and Special Leave, monitoring sickness and absence of medical staff, conducting return to works, and formal sickness reviews in line with Trust Policy and all other HR policies.

Main duties of the job

Ensure medical staff are compliant with mandatory training and take necessary action for those not compliant.

Ensure the out of hours and emergency duties on-call planning rota is completed and disseminated appropriately, and any changes are escalated where necessary.

Produce Business Plans as and when required, chasing these up to timescales and deadlines.

Assist the Directorate Manager with the management of the RTT and support the achievement of the RTT. For maternity services this will include ante natal and caesarean section planning.

Attend RTT performance meetings with directorate and clinical teams when required.

To support the tracking of patients and escalation of patient treatment in relation to delays in treatment to the MDT team

Liaise with the Directorate Manager where additional capacity is required for patients to be seen within appropriate timescales. Early escalation of potential capacity problems. Escalate issues which may impede compliance to the Directorate manager in a timely manner and collaboratively work up recovery plans.

To support the Directorate in the monitoring of the theatre and outpatient capacity and utilisation of sessions

To plan and monitor the use of the theatre lists to ensure maximum utilisation

To work closely with the Consultant team to manage capacity and demand

Assist in the investigation of complaints/incidents/PALS

  • BTEC Certificate in Management or equivalent.

Desirable

  • Business administration qualification, eg, NVQ 3.

  • Previous experience of working within an acute setting to support patient flow.
  • Ability to work under pressure, to tight deadlines and with frequent interruptions
