Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 nurse to join the Same Day Emergency Care area of the Emergency village at Salford Care Organisation.
You must be able to motivate, support and actively encourage staff to achieve high standards, and possess excellent communication skills to ensure that the aims of the SDEC are fully met to benefit our patients.
The philosophy of the Emergency Village is to provide urgent care to patients of all ages presenting with acute and chronic conditions, supported by specialist 'in reach' teams to deliver the most appropriate patient care pathway. You will be required to work collaboratively with the existing multi-disciplinary teams to provide emergency care and management to ensure the best possible outcome for all patients.

You will have clear aims for the SDEC Unit's ongoing development and be able to achieve goals set. Firm evidence of how you as a leader have made a positive impact to your team dynamics and are able to evidence how your role has improved clinical effectiveness..
You must be able to motivate staff to achieve high standards and possess excellent communication skills as components to achieve Trust goals.

Main duties of the job
You will need to ensure that as well as providing clinical leadership, responsibility for direct staff management and the running of SDEC, you will also be working to tight deadlines to ensure the Patients are assessed, diagnosed and start treatment on the same day, improving patient experience and reducing hospital admissions as well as avoiding unplanned and longer than necessary stays in hospitals, resulting in lower risk of infections and de-conditioning for patients
A large part of the role involves the patient flow through the emergency village, therefore close collaboration with the bed management team, Emergency Department and EAU and STU will be required and a good working knowledge of the patient flow system is also required.
