Transport Driver Class 2

Job summary
We are looking for a dynamic, flexible person to help support the Transport service.
The successful applicant will monitor daily schedules and plan and carry out effectively in line with the Trust policies the moving of equipment including samples, notes, store room equipment, pharmaceutical equipment and any other ad/hoc requests between hospital clinics and sites this could also include transporting patients to home addresses nursing homes etc. The service schedules run Monday - Sunday, the successful applicant will be required to become familiar with all service schedules, in order to provide cover if the need arises.
The successful candidate will have previous driving experience and hold a Class 2 UK driving License. You will have driven a range of commercial fleet vehicles ranging from small ford connect vans, minibuses/ambulance and 3.5t 7.7t and 19t with tail lifts.
Main duties of the job
- Undertake all driving and other authorised duties as required and directed in order to provide a transport service that meets the needs of the trust and its customers
- Undertake daily checks as directed to ensure that the vehicle to be driven complies with the requirements of the law and is in running order and report any defects to the Fleet Supervisor or Transport Manager.
- Be aware of and comply with the rules regarding the safe handling and carriage of pathology specimens, bloods, controlled drugs and stationery also potentially hazardous loads such as infected laundry, oxygen cylinders and liquid nitrogen flasks.
- Maintain the interior and exterior cleanliness of the vehicle in order to avoid cross infection, adhering to the Health and Safety regulations in force.
- Be aware of and comply with the regulations in respect of drivers hours, tachograph charts, keeping of work records and any other records that may be required by the Trust.
