Job summary
The primary objective of this post is to lead on the management of controlling costs, driving service excellence and mitigating risks to gain increased value from our vendors throughout the contract life cycle.
The post-holder will be responsible for managing the IT Procurement demand, in collaboration with the Group Procurement function; strategic relationships with our IT Managed Service Providers (MSPs), and the full process of actioning renewals and changes to contracts through effective management of change control and the PO process. They will be responsible for driving continuous improvement and efficiency within this domain, constantly seeking better ways to achieve value for the Trust. They will also be accountable for ensuring successful delivery of any projects associated with improved supplier management.
As a pivotal member of the Deputy CDIO's leadership team, there will be a requirement for close involvement in the development of the Trust's Digital Strategy and the role that effective commercial management can play in advancing the Trust's digital aims. The role will lead cost optimisation, vendor portfolio review and value management initiatives to stay competitive.
The postholder will require vision and an ability to share/inspire towards this, ensuring that the desired cultures and behaviours associated with commercial management principles are embedded across the Digital function and wider organisation.
Main duties of the job
The Head of Vendor Management will be accountable for ensuring:
- Articulation of a clear vision, mission and guiding principles for Vendor Management which aligns with those of the Trust and the Digital function (including Digital Operations, Applications Development, Enterprise Architecture Informatics and other disciplines).
- Definition of objectives and associated metrics for Vendor Management to support the above.
- As part of the leadership team for the Office of the CDIO, effective management, accountability, compliance, and assurance for all aspects of Supplier Management, including compliance with law and guidance, and resolution of related risks and issues.
- The development and implementation of a Digital Vendor management strategy that delivers against the Trust's strategic priorities and translates Digital and business imperatives into effective Digital strategies.
- The management of 3rd party supplier budget, manage/track the forecasted spend, risks on over-spend and cost saving/consolidation opportunities.
