Job summary
The Neurosurgery department in Northern Care Alliance NHS trust (based in Salford Royal Hospital) is pleased to advertise a 6-12-week clinical attachment placement in an honorary (unpaid) capacity. Start date: January/ February 2024.
This is particularly useful for doctors starting their career in the NHS and wishing to gain NHS knowledge and experience before they apply for a job. It can also be useful for Neurosurgeons in training in other countries wishing to pursue a career in the UK.
The successful candidates will be given an opportunity to gain clinical experience, participate in an audit, quality improvement project or ongoing research within the department. They can also benefit from attending post grad junior doctor teaching sessions as well as the local department teaching.
Main duties of the job
This is purely an observer role which gives the applicant an opportunity to closely observe how the NHS works.
The successful candidate is not allowed to undertake any clinical duties but will shadow and observe members of the neurosurgical team and must be directly supervised at all times.
The attachment doctors will have multiple educational opportunities including:
- Induction
- IT training
- Information governance training
- Basic life support training
- Participate in weekly teaching sessions
- Participate in ongoing research, audit and quality improvement projects
