Job summary
Applications are invited from the UK and internationally for the above post to commence October 2024. The post will be for a period of 12 months. The aim of the post will be to enable independent practice in skull base surgery, cochlear implantation and complex otology within a multidisciplinary setting as well as providing the opportunity to carry out high quality clinical research.
Main duties of the job
The skull base surgery is carried out at Salford Royal Hospital and the otology and cochlear implantation is carried out Manchester Royal Infirmary. Both units have an international reputation for excellence and are amongst the busiest units in the UK. The unit also has the largest neurofibromatosis type II practice in the UK and is one of the largest auditory brainstem implant units in the world.
The successful applicant should have obtained the FRCS (ORL-HNS) or equivalent and have already gained extensive experience in the field of middle ear otology.
The salary will be SpR equivalent and will require the successful applicant to take part in a 1 in 8 specialist registrar on call rota that will cover the Manchester Royal Infirmary and Salford Royal Hospital. The post does not carry a National Training Number and those applicants who do not yet have their CCT should discuss the post with their regional programme director.
