Job summary
This is an exciting opportunity to join the thriving department of Clinical Neuropsychology at the Manchester Centre for Clinical Neurosciences.
We are looking for a highly motivated Clinical Psychologist who has a strong interest in pursuing a career in neuropsychology and has the appropriate experience to work autonomously in an outpatient service for patients with a very wide range of neurological conditions. The Psychologist will be experienced in providing comprehensive neuropsychology assessments and will be skilled in providing interventions using multiple models. The focus of this post is group intervention and approximately half of your direct clinical time will be focused on this.
This is a development post that is intended to enable a Psychologist to gain the skills and qualifications necessary to work as an effective and confident Clinical Neuropsychologist in the future. Dependent on experience, the person will have successfully completed at least one year of the Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Neuropsychology. However, we will also be happy to consider applications from psychologists who have not started this qualification. In this instance, the psychologist would be paid at band 7 until they have passed the first year of the qualification. We will subsidise funding for this course.
Main duties of the job
You will join one of the largest Neuropsychology teams in the country, in a culturally diverse region. We are a group of highly committed and supportive clinicians who work across inpatient, outpatient and community settings supported by an excellent administrative and managerial team.
The person will benefit from the supervision structure and peer support of the department and the additional CPD opportunities afforded here.
For this specific post, we are looking for a proactive and creative individual who has a keen interest in group intervention, systemic work and developing services. This is a new post that has been developed to help better support patients with long term neurological conditions. A key role of the post is to investigate and implement ways of improving access to neuropsychology in a timely manner. Time is ringfenced for research and service development.
