Job summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join us; you will either already have some paediatric experience, or be keen and interested to develop your skills in this area.We are a Community Paediatric Team based at Callaghan House in Heywood. We see children from 0 - 19 years with acute, chronic and long term conditions. We provide a service in clinics, as well as visiting children in their homes, nurseries and schools.The Paediatric Occupational Therapy Team are integrated with other children's teams to form the Children's Integrated Community Health Services. The immediate multi-disciplinary teams at Callaghan House include Physiotherapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Dietetics, Child Development Team, Family Action, Community Nursing Team, Paediatric Nurse Practitioners, and Posture & Mobility Service. We are supported by the Single Point of Access Administration Team.We will ensure you have a supportive working and learning environment.Our team has a diverse and dynamic approach to treating, managing, supporting our young people, children and their families.

Main duties of the job

You will be responsible for the specialist assessment, management and treatment of children and young people with a range of difficulties impacting their occupations within the Children's Integrated Community Health Service. This will be carried out in a variety of locations, including clinics, nurseries, mainstream and special schools, and in the home setting.

Key Requirements of the role include:

  • Knowledge of developmental delay and neuro-disabilities in children.
  • Knowledge of conditions in paediatrics.
  • Experience of working in paediatrics.
  • Multi-agency working and safeguarding experience.

In order to support your specialist role, you will receive regular formal and informal training, clinical reasoning sessions, peer review and reflective practice. You will be required to maintain records as per professional guidelines and trust policy.
