Job summary

The Medical Device Service support users of medical equipment across all our hospital sites within the Northern Care Alliance.

We are looking to fill a vacant post as technical support engineer - mechanical.

Main duties of the job

You will have a key role in supporting the departments responsibility for the maintenance, repair and sub-contractor management of Medical equipment. This will Include first line support to users of Medical equipment to Optimise systems up time to gain maximum use of Medical equipment. Ideally you will possess a minimum of HNC in Electronics and Clinical engineering and have relevant experience since qualifying in the field of Mechanical Engineering. Knowledge in the application and repair on a wide range of Medical equipment used in a hospital and community is essential although some specific training will be provided.Consideration may be given to applicants with reduced knowledge and skills, who follow a personnel development program on a reduced grade.

You will be working in a multi-professional Medical Device Service, with teams delivering technical engineering, design, innovation and research, governance, library and training services across a number of Care Organisations and community teams. The aim is to have the right equipment, providing optimal performance, in the right place, at the right time for clinicians who know how to use it safely. This is achieved, by the different services, working in a blended way using innovative approaches. The MDS teams work closely together in a mutually respectful, supportive, and friendly way, exchanging ideas and skills, to deliver a patient focused service.
