Job summary
Applications are invited from motivated, dynamic biomedical scientists for this exciting and busy post. You will participate in the delivery of our ISO 15189 accredited Cellular Pathology service, contributing to the wide ranging laboratory service including microtomy, quality control, intra-operative diagnostic frozen sections, audit, immunocytochemistry, skin immunofluorescence, muscle enzyme histochemistry, Moh's clinic, cytology adequacy assessment clinics, renal clinics, cytology preparation, biopsy preparation, processing and embedding and special stains.
We are looking to fill this post in Cellular Pathology with an individual who is experienced, enthusiastic, self-motivated, diligent and conscientious; a person who can reflect the trust values through their contribution to the work of the laboratory. You must be able to work on your own and enjoy working as part of a team.
Main duties of the job
- To contribute and deliver the scientific and technical work of the Cellular Pathology Service
- Maintain registration as a biomedical scientist through continuing to meet the standards of proficiency for safe and effective practice and continuing to meet the HCPC's standards for continuing professional development.
- To work within Trust & departmental SOPs and Policies to ensure the delivery of a safe, patient focused & high quality service.
- To contribute to the maintenance of department quality management systems
- To develop and maintain personal competence for all aspects of personal activity within role

It is increasingly becoming a local focal point for gastro-intestinal pathology.
