Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Major Trauma Therapy team as a static band 6 Specialist Occupational Therapist. You will be working in the new Greater Manchester Major Trauma Hospital, which will receive major trauma patients from across Greater Manchester, for example, people who have been involved in a serious road traffic accident or life-changing fall. You will also have the opportunity to work on the Major Trauma rehabilitation ward. You will be supported by a highly skilled team of band 8a, 7, 6, 5, 4 & 3 OT's and Physio's. This is a great opportunity to join the team at the pivotal moment of moving into the new hospital and being part of the services expansion.
Main duties of the job
You will provide holistic OT assessment and treatment interventions to patients who have complex injuries due to major trauma. This may include traumatic brain injuries, spinal injuries and poly orthopedic trauma.
You will work with the MDT to optimise the patients recovery and facilitate their discharge home or transfer to specialist rehabilitation services.
You will supervise junior members of the Occupational Therapy team and contribute to service development activities.
To be experienced and skilled in the holistic assessment of patients needs and the development and implementation and evaluation of treatment programmes.
To support senior members of the team in delivering evidence based patient care.
To work across Major Trauma acute and rehabilitation wards with experience of a wide knowledge base that can be adapted for each setting.
To work as an autonomous practitioner being professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of your work, managing own caseload and maintaining patient and own records.
To work as a member of the MDT, coordinating discharges and taking an active role in case conferences.
