The closing date is 27 April 2026

Job summary

The Cancer Information and Support Services team sits within Cancer Services at NNUH and plays a central role in delivering high quality, person centred support to people affected by cancer across the Trust and wider locality. The team incorporates the North Norfolk Macmillan Information Centre, the NNUH Macmillan Information Pod, and the Cancer Care Navigator service. Together, these services provide trusted, evidence based information, emotional support, and practical guidance for patients, families and carers at every stage of the cancer pathway.

Working closely with Clinical Nurse Specialists, Allied Health Professionals, the Macmillan Lead Cancer Nurse, the Personalised Care Lead and the wider Colney Care Group, the team ensures equitable access to information and supports personalised, holistic care. The department is also instrumental in delivering education, coordinating volunteers, supporting survivorship initiatives, and collaborating with local and national partners, including the Integrated Care Board and Macmillan Cancer Support.

Our work is guided by NNUH's PRIDE values, with a strong focus on compassion, empowerment, service development and continuous quality improvement. We strive to create a safe, inclusive, and responsive environment where patients feel heard, supported and informed.

Main duties of the job

The post holder ensures that patients, families and carers receive high quality, timely and evidence based information about cancer, treatments, emotional support needs and wider practical issues.

Key responsibilities include line management, service development, volunteer coordination, education and training, policy development, partnership working and contributing to the Trust's cancer information strategy.

  • High-impact leadership role: You will shape and develop the Trust's cancer information provision, directly influencing patient experience and the wider personalised care agenda.
  • Diverse and collaborative working: The role spans clinical teams, patient groups, public health, community services, and national organisations, offering a rich and varied professional network.
  • Opportunity for service innovation: With scope to lead strategy, implement new models of support, evaluate services and drive quality improvement, this post offers real autonomy to develop best practice.

Additionally, the role provides the chance to use advanced communication and counselling skills, contribute to survivorship work, and act as a specialist resource in cancer information across Norfolk and Waveney.
