Sister/Charge Nurse - Paediatrics

Job summary

The candidate would work within the Pediatric Nurse Management Team to oversee care delivered by the Children's Day Ward and Jenny Lind Outpatients area. These two clinical areas see patients from all Paedaitric Specialities.

This opportunity would allow the successful candidate to develop and demonstrate skills in leadership and management as they oversee the governance and safe and effective running of two busy clinical areas.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be accountable and responsible for the standards of care provided within the ward/department and provide specialist knowledge to lead the team to deliver high quality evidence-based care to patients across the CDW. They will be responsible for supporting and implementing innovative practice and ensuring CDW meets all quality standards.

  • To be responsible for Ward/Department nursing staff and to provide a quality and cost-effective service in accordance with Trust policy and procedures.
  • Communicate effectively and efficiently and liaise with other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure the patients receive seamless care within the trust.
  • Act as a role model and resource for the multidisciplinary team requiring advice and support.
  • Take an active approach to the development of clinical competence in self and others.
  • Act as the key person in the co-ordination and communication of complex, sensitive, emotional, condition related issues to patients, relatives and to the multidisciplinary team.
  • To establish and promote a safe, clean, therapeutic environment for patients, visitors, and colleagues.
