Applications are invited for a Locum Consultant in High Risk Obstetrics. This post is for a fixed term for the period of 3 months.

This a 3 month fixed term consultant appointment with potential to extend. The successful applicant would join a team of 12 consultant obstetricians to provide antenatal care, high risk intrapartum care and postnatal care.

The Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital has the largest birth rate in the East of England, therefore this post will involve twilight duties as part of emergency intrapartum care.

Essential

  • Full GMC Registration. Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via: CCT (Proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview). oCESR or European Community Rights
  • CESR or European Community Rights

Desirable

  • An appropriate higher qualification - MD, MSc
  • ATSM advanced labour ward
  • ATSM advanced antenatal practice
  • ATSM labour ward lead

Aptitudes

Essential

  • Good communicator.
  • Capable of working in a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Enthusiasm for service development and teaching.

Desirable

  • Previous responsibility for service improvement.
  • Previous responsibility for service improvement.

Experience

Essential

  • Completed training within the NHS or applicants who are nationals from another European country or elsewhere overseas would have to show equivalence to the 7 years training period in the National Health Service required for the specialty. Training and expertise in children's safeguarding
  • Extensive obstetric experience able to perform all roles in the job description

  • Experience in research or published papers in area of special interest
  • Experience In obstetric training e.g. MOET or PROMPT instructor
  • Experience in risk management with demonstration of Root Cause analysis investigator experience.
