Healthcare Support Worker – Clinical Care - Cardiology

Job summary

The Cardiology Outpatient department is a busy clinical area, providing care to patients with a wide variety of heart problems. We provide a combination of face to face and virtual consultations to patients through our consultant and nurse led clinics, working closely with our colleagues in technical cardiology and admin as well as a range of allied health professionals.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be responsible for assisting in running and coordinating a variety of consultant and nurse led clinics. Our people centred focus is on patient safety, wellbeing and customer care to enable the department to deliver excellence. You will work alongside our small team of health care assistants to facilitate the safe flow of patients through our clinics, providing assistance to both patients and clinicians. You will also be required to record ECGs and undertake venepuncture for patients in clinic. Training will be provided if needed.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication and organisational skills and will be able to communicate effectively using our PRIDE values, working to the highest professional standards and demonstrating integrity and dedication to the role.

Currently clinics run Monday to Friday 8-5 but it is possible that these hours will be extended to weekends and/or evenings in due course. The post holder will be required to work flexibly during all of these hours. Occasionally the post holder may be asked to cover some ward work during their normal working hours when clinics are closed, although this is not part of the usual daily routine.

Please note: City and Guilds NVQ Level 3/ T levels/ A levels in Care/Health and Social Care or equivalent qualification or significant equivalent experience is required for this role.
