Job summary
The Pharmacy Department provides a comprehensive pharmacy service across the Trust and to several external community units. We are a large, very busy department with over 180 members of staff including Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians, Pharmacy Assistants, Science Manufacturing Technicians and Admin staff. There are many varied roles and we all work as a team to provide the different functions and services whilst maintaining a high level of patient care. We have strong links with both the School of Pharmacy, with onsite teacher practitioner posts, and the Medical School at the nearby University of East Anglia. Functions of the Pharmacy Department include the ordering, receipt, and supply of medicines to wards and departments throughout the Trust/external units. This includes dispensing for inpatients, outpatients, community units and supplying ward stocks averaging around 2,500 items a day. Wards and external units are provided with a clinical service with Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians an integral part of the multidisciplinary team. The Pharmacy provides Aseptic Services such as the preparation and supply of chemotherapy and other sterile products. We have a Quality Assurance team that works to ensure that our products are prepared and supplied to the highest quality standards.
Main duties of the job
Operations Manager, Stores and Procurement is a new and exciting role that will play a key part in managing and implementing continuous improvement of the Stores and Procurement team.
The Operations Manager, Stores and Procurement will be accountable to the Pharmacy Procurement Specialist and will be expected to take the lead on the day-to-day running and organisation of the Stores team, including workload allocation, Key Performance Indicators, recruitment, performance reviews and any other Human Resource management issues.
The Operations Manager, Stores and Procurement will be a Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council, with significant hospital pharmacy experience. Stores and / or Procurement experience is also desirable. The Operations Manager, Stores and Procurement, will be pivotal in leading the Stores team, therefore leadership experience and holding a leadership qualification, or working towards, is essential.

A key part of this role is ensuring legislation and regulations are abided by, and working with the Pharmacy Procurement Specialist to ensure audits and actions are undertaken to ensure compliance.
The post holder must be able to prioritise their workload, collaborate with Pharmacy stakeholders and Trust staff and communicate effectively. The ability to plan and implement change is also essential, as is emotional intelligence and the ability to work as a team, being flexible and strong interpersonal skills.
The post is full time, to be worked Monday to Friday. There is also a requirement to work 1 in 10 weekends with corresponding time off during the week and to participate in the bank holiday rota, currently minimum 1 per year.
