Job summary

Applications are invited for a replacement full time, fixed term Senior Robotic Fellow appointment to the Norfolk and Waveney Urology service, providing care across three Acute Trusts. It is expected that the post holder will be trained in general urology.

The Urology department at Norwich University Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking to appoint a Fellow in Robotic Urology based at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital (NNUH). The programme is set from 1st May 2026 and will run for 12 months. We aim to deliver a comprehensive training programme in urological robotics. The appointee will undergo a systematic training curriculum leading to independent robotic urology practice upon successful completion.

Main duties of the job

This post is most suitable for Post FRCS (Urol) or for equivalent candidates and who are post CCT (or equivalent) ready to focus on sub-speciality training in robotic urological surgery. The successful applicant will join an innovative department with excellent opportunities for both clinical/surgical experience, research and for continuing medical education.

The role involves a 1 in 10 middle grade on-call with support from an FY/CT/PA/UNP during the day and the on-call consultant. The selected candidate will work in collaboration with other Urology medical colleagues, providing care for urology patients within the hospital, handling emergencies, and accepting referrals from other specialties.

Successful candidates will have exposure to a variety of urological procedures through an agreed personal development plan. In addition to operative experience, it is expected that the successful candidate will participate in weekly Uro-Oncology activities including cancer MDT and dedicated outpatient clinics with time allocated for administrative duties, audit and research.

The successful appointee will be responsible for the day to day running of the urology ward, assisting in theatre sessions, Outpatient clinics and arranging admission and discharges under Consultant supervision. A ward round will be conducted each morning with junior staff, which will incorporate the management of elective urological patients and seeing ward referrals.
