Job summary

The Occupational and Physiotherapy Teams therapies at NNUH offer services here at Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital on the wards and in outpatient clinics as well as out in the community, and the Housekeepers work with them all as a vital part of the support team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic individual to develop new and/or consolidate existing skills in supporting the work done by the therapists and their patients here in the Hospital. You will have access to a supervisor, training and support and be able to work in a variety of settings, including the community, where you will be driving a Trust vehicle to collect or deliver equipment at times.

Main duties of the job

As post holder, your duties will include:

  • Working for an integrated team of therapists across in and outpatient services
  • Onsite & Offsite working likely, with community- based tasks as part of the role, as well as tasks her at NNUH.
  • Opportunity to learn and develop skills and knowledge in a variety of areas of work

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain a working rapport with therapists, therapy assistants and administration colleagues
  • Help with cleaning and maintaining tidiness in all areas. Inadequate or missed cleaning should be reported to 3333 to assist with C4C Audit Compliance. Job numbers should be recorded to ensure job completion can be verified
  • Change linen on therapy beds as per department policy and ensure a supply of blue roll is available for use with plinths, avoiding any disruption to the service
  • Clean therapy equipment (splint pans, gym equipment and trollies) as per required schedule and update cleaning record. Visibly check equipment where appropriate and ensure it is in safe working order as per departmental policy, highlighting any problems to Operational / Integrated Therapy leads, avoiding any disruption to the service
  • Monitor wax bath usage and replace wax as needed, highlighting low wax stock levels to therapy assistant staff for re-ordering
  • Monitor stock levels of patient information leaflets in leaflet racks within outpatient therapy area and re-order as necessary
  • To be responsible for the maintenance of OT equipment at department level as directed, reporting and ensuring accurate records are kept and ensuring equipment is retrieved and returned as necessary.
  • Check oxygen is working correctly where present within OT and ensure portable oxygen cylinders are full
  • Ensure adequate stocks of items are in specified areas as required, and move equipment from the stores to these areas with reference to manual handling and health & safety policies and procedures. Maintain an up-to-date stock list of all equipment stored in satellite areas to ensure the correct stock levels are maintained and to assist with equipment orders
