Job summary
Applications are invited for a Locum Consultant in Emergency Medicine for maternity leave cover for a 9- month period, 30/10/25 to 29/07/26.
The post of Locum Consultant is for the Trust, not to a specific hospital. Our Trust footprint currently includes Cromer Hospital (25 miles from NNUH). The ED Consultants also provide support for a minor injury's unit in Cromer in terms of clinical advice, and support with protocol development.The MIU is staffed by ENPs.
Main duties of the job
Within ED
- Provision of safe, timely, high-quality care to patients
- Undertake different roles within the department as required
- Provide clinical leadership and supervision of junior medical staff
- 24/7 Trauma Team leader
- Participation in teaching programs within the department
- Act as educational and clinical supervisor for a wide range of trainees
- Take on specific roles in the department that require consultant oversight and ensure these specific parts of the service achieve their desired aims and objectives.
- Undertake review of formal imaging report
Clinical Governance
- Be proactive in the Clinical Governance agendafor the department. This includes participationin audit and quality improvement projects,guidelines/pathways, professionaldevelopment, appraisal and risk managementas well as attending Clinical Governancemeetings.
- Attend Directorate meetings to contribute to the development of the service
Within the Trust
- Liaise with clinicians and leads outside of the ED to address issues that arise
- Participation in teaching programs across thewider hospital community and the Universityof East Anglia
- The appointees will be members of theConsultant Staff Committee
