Job summary
We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated applicants for this post, based at NNUH. The role requires a dynamic and highly organised individual capable of handling complex and confidential information, while supporting governance processes to ensure the efficient functioning of the Department. Training will be provided.
The Familial Hypercholesterolaemia (FH) Officer is a new post approved to support this novel and dynamic project. The appointed candidate will support the effective delivery and coordination of the FH Program and other clinical services within the Department of Biochemistry and Immunology. They will also manage and support the administrative team.
People with FH are at 300 times greater risk of developing heart disease than the general population, and onset is typically at early age and severe. The aim of this project is to identify and treat patients promptly, and to prevent their severe health consequences.
The FH Officer will work closely in collaboration with the NNUH FH Team, and will be instrumental in ensuring that individuals and families at risk of FH receive timely care.

Main duties of the job
- Support the day-to-day coordination and operation of the Familial Hypercholesterolaemia (FH) Programme, and other clinical services with the Department of Clinical Biochemistry and Immunology, ensuring timely care delivery, appointment scheduling, and patient follow-up.
- Supervise and coordinate a small Office team.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration between patients, clinicians, managers, and external stakeholders to promote seamless service delivery.
- Use relevant digital technologies and systems confidently (e.g., Microsoft Office, Dr Doctor, Dictate Swift, patients and staff management platforms, pathology portals etc) to support daily operations.
- Provide direct secretarial and coordination support to clinical staff.
- Organise meetings, including preparation of agendas, documentation, and minute-taking where required.
- Engage proactively in team meetings and collaborative discussions with stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the Service Manager to maintain accurate waiting lists, upholding compliance with the Patient Access Policy and reducing risk of delays or breaches.
- Act as a central point of contact for patient and stakeholder queries, ensuring effective, timely communication and issue resolution.
