An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Infection, Prevention and Control (IP&C) Team at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The team work collaboratively with colleagues, both within the organisation, and externally, to support the reduction of healthcare associated infections, aligning with the Trust vision to provide "The best care for every patient". Main duties of the job

As post holder, you will work under the direction of the registered IP&C nurses to support the improvement and maintenance of IP&C standards.

Some of the main responsibilities for this role include:

1. Assist in monitoring adherence to relevant IP&C policies and guidelines (e.g. Hand hygiene, Cleaning etc.).

2. Monitor and observe clinical care to ensure the implementation of and compliance with IP&C policies, feeding back information to the clinical department and IP&C teams.

3. Undertake and demonstrate to other staff the current hand hygiene technique as required. Provide hand hygiene training on a rolling programme in clinical areas and at training sessions as requested.

4. Communicate with the IP&C team, wider multidisciplinary team, other departments, patients and visitors promoting good IP&C practice in line with guidelines/policies, constructively providing feedback.

5. Input data into databases as required e.g. following clinical and environmental audit. Accuracy of data entry will be verified by Information Officer.

  • Report accidents, near misses or difficulties complying with the IP&C guidelines/policies using the Trust incident reporting system.
  • Assist in investigating incidents that have been reported via the Trust incident reporting system.
