Job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to join the radiology nursing team, as part of an Imaging department which holds the Quality Standards for Imaging accreditation.

Radiology has recently expanded across all modalities, with the opening of the new Clinical Diagnostic Centre this year. This new centre will provide diagnostic imaging to approximately 450 people a day, when fully open. In the autumn of 2020, we also opened the new Norfolk Centre for Interventional Radiology (NCIR). Radiology Nursing also includes our nurse led Vascular Access Team, who are looking to expand to provide more services this year.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to both lead and be part of a team of specialist nurses and allied health professionals embarking on an exciting future in an amazing specialty.Utilising a multi-disciplinary team, the current NCIR houses Siemens equipment performing a range of elective and Inpatient procedures.

We have two high end Pheno systems in 2 of the 4 theatres all supported by a dedicated 16 bed recovery space. A wide range of Vascular and Non-vascular interventional procedures are currently performed at the NNUH and the ambition is to expand these services to be at the cutting edge of IR developments.

Main duties of the job

As post holder you will be expected to be dynamic and engaged. A shared enthusiasm and ambition to assist in making the NNUH stand at the forefront of Radiology nursing, while ensuring that high professional standards are maintained at all times is essential.

There will be a need to work clinically as part of this role, this element can be informally discussed before application.

The post involves managing and supporting the Interventional Radiology nursing team which includes operating department practitioners and paramedics, as well as the wider radiology nursing team, while working alongside a dedicated radiographic team also. You will work closely with the, Imaging Matron, NCIR service lead radiographer and other Imaging modality leads, considering the 4 pillars of the Imaging department - Workforce, Governance, Performance and Finance.

1) Lead and work as part of the department team, providing professional leadership and management within the work environment. The post holder will be accountable and responsible for the standards of care provided within the ward/department and for leading, supporting and implementing innovative practice.

2) The post holder will provide direct patient care, demonstrating specialist knowledge and act as a resource and role model for the clinical team. To work in liaison with other Senior Nurses/Department Managers and the Assistant Director of Nursing to implement Directorate/Divisional service plans. As part of this role there is opportunity to attend and deliver continuing professional development.

3) To support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service, all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUHs PRIDE values of People focused, Respect, Dedication, Integrity and Excellence. 7 day working with evening, weekend and bank holiday shifts including on call. The on-call commitment requires the member of staff to be within 30 minutes of the NNUH
